“Working The Room” debuts on FYI and A&E
Author:Abigail Stone“Working The Room,” which premieres Thursday, May 9 at 9:00pm on FYI and on A&E Saturday mornings at 9 am starting May 11, chronicles the adventures of interior designers Nathan Turner, Mat Sanders and Tiffany Riggle as they reimagine neglected rooms in their clients’ homes. Each 30 minute episode features a full makeover, from the initial meet and greet to a first look at the room, through conversations about materials, to reimagining the space, installation and the final reveal.
Not a competition, a limited budget of $20,000, and access to the varied and unique resources of pieces available on Sotheby’s Home positions “Working The Room” as distinct, anchoring it in the actual design experience and focusing on the interior designer’s process of creating unique rooms that answer to the needs and challenges of their clients.
“Working the Room” was created by A&E Networks, Reach TV and Propagate in partnership with Sotheby’s Home, an online consignment marketplace specializing in vintage furniture, decorative objects and accessories. Formerly known as Viyet, it was acquired by Sotheby’s in February 2018 and rebranded as Sotheby’s Home in October.
“The show focuses on the creative process of each designer,” says Elizabeth Brown, CEO of Sotheby’s Home, “from meeting the client to selecting furniture and fabrics, laying out the overall design and more. By showing the complete process, the show takes viewers behind the scenes of home makeovers and shows how these talented designers tackle projects and reimagine spaces.” Each episode follows one of the designers as they transform a room: a bedroom is turned into a relaxing retreat, a family room becomes a functional living room space and a haven for entertaining is chiseled out of a crowded garage.
Integral to the show’s appeal is how each space is customized using items from Sotheby’s Home, the online consignment marketplace specializing in vintage furniture, decorative objects and accessories. Sotheby’s Home formerly known as Viyet was acquired by Sotheby’s in February 2018 was rebranded as Sotheby’s Home in October.
In addition to the full episodes on FYI and A&E, the show will also air on Reach TV with bespoke versions of each episode cut to 6-8 minutes.
