Nestled in the very beginning of the Florida Keys, the Bungalows Key Largo invites you to indulge in uninterrupted relaxation. The all-inclusive waterfront retreat features 135 private bungalows that open up to both ocean and garden views, complete with an outdoor soaking tub, offering the perfect sanctuary for either romance or rejuvenation. “The privacy with outdoor living spaces and garden areas, including outdoor tubs and showers, certainly enhances the appeal of the Bungalows compared to a traditional interior corridor hotel room,” says Jerry Johnson, owner of the hotel. “Guests love that they can surround themselves with the tropics.”
The idea behind Bungalows Key Largo was born out of the desire to offer a place that immerses you in unparalleled island living. In the United States, all-inclusive resorts are rare, especially ones that combine luxury and privacy on this scale. “We chose an all-inclusive property because there was not an existing option in the Florida Keys,” explains Johnson. “This also gave us the opportunity to offer our guests a variety of high-end food and beverage experiences without having to leave the resort.”
The magic of Bungalows Key Largo extends beyond the architecture and into its very essence, with nods to literary greats like Ernest Hemingway. The resort’s Hemingway Bar gives a glimpse of the author’s personality, offering a vibe that feels as though the legendary writer himself might walk through the door at any moment. Complete with tiles that are exact replicas from those at his Key West residence, the bar embodies authentic atmosphere nostalgia. “The Hemingway Bar transports you back in time,” Johnson remarks, “giving the sense that Hemingway himself could join you for a drink.”
What sets this resort apart from others in Florida is its distinct sense of place. The lush landscape was meticulously planned to envelop guests in the environment. With over 100,000 trees and plants woven into the grounds, the resort gives its guests the feeling of being much further away than a little over an hour from Miami. “What makes the resort truly unique is that it was designed from the ground up to be an island oasis,” Johnson proclaims. “It creates the feeling of being secluded on your own private island, far from everything.
