“Our mission was clear, to transcend conventional boundaries and strike the perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics, crafting designs that resonated with a wide-ranging audience,” says designer Jeffrey Florentine—founder and principal designer at JSF Design—about his team’s work inside this desert home. “Our core belief revolves around the seamless marriage of form and function. We are passionate advocates of purpose-driven design, understanding that true beauty emerges when a space is thoughtfully tailored to meet the needs and desires of its inhabitants. With this guiding philosophy, we set out to create designs that not only captivate visually but also enrich the lives of those who call them home.”
Known as the ‘Solace Residence’, the 6,000-square-foot house has unparalleled views of the valley, surrounding mountains and iconic desert boulders. “The land’s unique elevation and untouched natural beauty provided the perfect backdrop for a collection of homes that would seamlessly blend luxury with the raw elegance of the desert,” he remarks. “Inspired by the unique backdrop of the desert, JSF Design envisioned incorporating Antolini stones throughout the home to reflect and enhance the natural elements, creating a timeless design that harmonized perfectly with the rugged beauty of Scottsdale’s desert terrain.”
Florentine’s clients wanted their new home to feel luxurious while having a natural connection to the desert surroundings. “They wanted a space that balanced aesthetic appeal with functionality, creating a serene and welcoming environment,” he says. “Drawing inspiration from high-end spas and hotels, the design aimed to incorporate natural materials, like premium stones, to enhance the sense of elegance and comfort throughout the home.”
They delivered on the clients’ dream design by creating direct access to the outdoors by opening each space using expansive pocket doors and wrapping the interiors in the finest finishes from Antolini sourced from Galleria of Stone Arizona. “One unique challenge was incorporating distinct features, like a two-level closet inspired by iconic retail spaces, giving the homeowner a boutique-like experience every morning,” Florentine says. “Additionally, the selection of high-quality materials was crucial, as the client valued privacy and exclusivity, which guided our choices throughout the design.”
“The most significant feature of the Solace Residence is the harmonious integration of natural luxury materials, particularly the exquisite stone selections by Antolini, which elevate the aesthetic across key areas of the home,” he says. “Notable elements include the Paonazzo marble island in the kitchen and the two-level boutique-inspired closet, both of which add a distinct sense of elegance and personalization that reflect the client’s lifestyle and vision.”
When the home was completed, it became the talk of the town for the meticulous attention to detail and ultimate sophistication. “The Antolini stone, used extensively throughout the home, became a standout feature, captivating everyone who visited,” Florentine proclaims. “Its rich, natural textures and unique patterns not only enhanced the visual appeal but also created a seamless connection to the desert landscape, as if the home were an extension of the earth itself.” From custom cabinetry to the hand-selected fixtures, the Solace Residence offers a level of refinement rarely seen in desert-inspired design.
