Jae Omar’s Dragon, A Livable Work Of Art, $18.5M
Author:Philip Ferrato
Meandering along an elevated site high above Pacific Palisades, celebrity designer Jae Omar’s latest luxury dwelling—dubbed ‘Dragon’—is a breathtaking and deeply spiritual 11,500-sq-ft composition of Japanese-inspired charred shou sugi ban wood and black steel cladding. The 7-bed, 9-bath home, created in partnership with JVE Development, one of L.A.’s leading ultra-luxury home developers, came on the market this week.
“The physical dimensions of this property allows for a long, meandering layout,” says Jae Omar. “As the property was being designed, it became clearer and clearer that this rambling residence, clad in stunning black materials and culminating on a precipice, resembled that of a dragon ready to take flight. That striking visual drove many of the design choices and narrative throughlines across the property.” Inside, another story unfolds, with pale plaster walls and Omar’s signature impeccable millwork in natural wood finishes, offset with walls of glass and custom stonework, like the carved marble fireplace in the principal living room.
A bookmatched wall of stone is the backdrop for a two-story waterfall, beginning in the dining room and culminating into a plunge pool within the home’s sybaritic lower wellness level, which also includes a home theater.
Meanwhile, there’s the primary suite to envy.
