Erica and Stephen Malbon have long held an appreciation and enthusiasm for the game of golf. And since founding Los Angeles-based Malbon Golf in 2017, they have aimed to widen the sport’s reach—namely, through fashions that bring a streetwear vibe to the greens. “We’re a lifestyle brand, inspired by golf,” says Erica. Indeed, Malbon’s list of collaborators is varied, including Adidas, Beats, FootJoy, Nike and 100 Thieves. Recently, pro golfers Jason Day and Charley Hull announced that they are now donning the label.

Compelling design, from the apparel to the retail experience, is key to Malbon’s appeal. Architectural designer Dean Levin of 22RE was enlisted for the interiors of the stores. Miami is the latest location—joining L.A., New York City and Carmel-by-the-Sea—and the first with a putting simulator. Carmel’s forthcoming expansion will also feature the interactive element. “Each store has its own personality, but then there are overarching commonalities,” says Erica. For example, Miami is awash in mint green, while Carmel is clad in wood. “Sleek materials” like stainless steel and travertine, she adds, are often used.

The women’s collection launched last summer, with Erica helming those design efforts; Stephen continues to lead on the men’s side. The couple has the next generation in mind, too: The Malbons’ younger son is the inspiration for a junior’s line that comes out later this year.
