Industrial Chic On Telegraph Hill
Author:Philip Ferrato
On Telegraph Hill, it’s all about the views, and here in a classic Telegraph Hill alley, interior designer Alden Miller and her team put together a spare, chic assemblage within the loft-like framework of a recently completed remodel. Architect Heidi Liebes had opened up the entire East wall of the house with floor-to-ceiling industrial steel windows, flooding the spaces with San Francisco’s uniquely soft maritime light, knowing that Miller’s interior architecture and decor never interfere with the sweeping vistas of Downtown and the Bay Bridge.
The Team: Alden Miller Interiors, in collaboration with Liebes Architects, All Bay Contractors.
Below: Kintla Bench in Bronze, from De Sousa Hughes; wood and black leather chairs from Garza Marfa.
Throughout, Alden Miller’s signature (and deeply practical) seamless cabinet work, immaculately finished. Art by Jennifer Kaufman. Paint on the main level walls is Benjamin Moore’s Vanilla Milkshake; kitchen cabinets in Benjamin Moore’s Titanium.
Originally two stories, the complete remodeling included a penthouse master suite opening to a huge deck. The shed-like, setback addition’s form is mandated by San Francisco’s building code to preserve light, air and views for the surrounding properties.
