Even if you’re already well acquainted with all things Four Seasons and have heard a thing or two about Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, you may not recognize the iconic brand’s newest incarnation, thanks to a comprehensive multi-year, multi-million dollar renovation at the Banderas Bay location in the Mexican Riviera Nayarit.

The property recently completed the final phase of the top-to-bottom redo and now features 177 redesigned guest rooms by Mexico City-based design firm UribeKrayer. Additional resort enhancements include the debut of Dos Catrinas, a two-story beachfront restaurant, an upgraded Apuane Spa and adults-only pool area, and a series of wellness retreats known as Soulcations.

The resort’s new overall aesthetic is meant to play up the interconnectedness of the open-air and indoor spaces throughout the property with the beachfront tropical setting.

UribeKrayer took inspiration from the surrounding environment to create the new guest room’s look, blending contemporary Mexican design with updated touches and native Huichol craftsmanship. Designers Ofelia Uribe and Erica Krayer implemented a neutral color palette with pops of blue combined with natural materials such as Parota wood and copper. Hanging hand-blown glass light fixtures and large sliding glass doors let in natural light and fine Mexican crafts are found throughout the spaces. A few examples: a colorful beaded map of Punta Mita from the local Huichol community and hand embroidered pillows from the Sna Jolobil, one of Mexicos finest textile cooperatives located in Chiapas.

The spacious accommodations are housed in newly painted tile roofed casitas and are fitted with updated conveniences and technology. All guest rooms are appointed with a newly redesigned private terrace overlooking the property’s breathtaking views. The patios are intended to evoke a feeling of a cozy open-air living room and are complete with contemporary furnishings designed by Uribe and Krayer.

Guests will also be delighted to dine at the new Dos Catrinas Restaurant, which features a creative reimagining of Mexican fare set in a colorful space. The regionally inspired menu includes traditional options and Mexican street food with contemporary twists and craft cocktails designed to blend Mexico’s past and future. Designed by Colombian architect Saul Sasson, the space’s expansive ground level features the main restaurant and bar while the second level offers a second bar and lounge overlooking the ocean.

As for Apuane Spa, the sanctuary-inspired retreat features a reception area adorned with Mexican-inspired artifacts and products, a relaxation courtyard centered around a serene fountain, a reflexology pool located underneath an authentic palapa and indigenous foliage, hot and cold plunge pools, therapeutic ice fountains, eucalyptus steam rooms, saunas, and luxurious changing areas with full amenities. Guests can enjoy a variety of personalized experiences including individual wellness recommendations based on genetics, an updated spa menu including superfood filled bento boxes with vegan and gluten-free options, toe astrology and fitness classes such as AquaForza and Anti-Gravity Fitness.

For those seeking a serious recharge, Four Seasons Punta Mita features three and four-day getaways that focus on soulful activities like spiritual energy clearing, sound healing, mud rituals, chakra balancing spa treatments, and yin yoga. Each “Soulcation” Mind, Body and Soul Retreat starts with Chef Jorge Gonzalez greeting guests to create personalized menus for their entire stay that are tailored to their individual desires. Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita Soulcations start at $895, inclusive of lodging and activities. Food and beverage are priced at consumption.
