Let’s face it, when you are a family of six and live in San Francisco, you need a home that maximizes space and efficiency. Staprans Design and BCV Architecture + Interiors reveled in the opportunity to redesign this city residence for an active couple with four children that suited their daily routines without compromising style.
Conceived by BCV’s Hans Baldauf, a dynamic staircase located in the core of the house, connects the four floors through its use of oak paneling and cascading hand-blown Metro Lighting pendants.
Staprans and the BCV team worked with Christopher Gate Construction to expand the home’s footprint with the addition of a 4th floor to not only increase space but to bring in more natural light.
The design challenge was not just in adding space, but to ensure each area was comfortable and equipped for their hobbies which include cooking, music, study and play. Additionally Staprans was tasked with creating a more contemporary design that would integrate with their existing collection of French antiques.
