George Herms and Terence Koh at Morán Morán Gallery
Author:Abigail StoneMorán Morán Gallery has gone through a number of iterations. Founded in Miami in 2008 as OHWOW, an alliance of artists and curators, presenting various exhibitions, happenings and publications, it moved to New York then opened in West Hollywood in 2011 with a renovated space by New York-based architect Rafael de Cárdenas. In 2013, it reinvented itself with a new name which was changed last year as the Morán family retained full ownership, honing their focus on both emerging and established contemporary artists.
Its latest show, running now through July 6, is a two-person exhibition highlighting the work of George Herms and Terence Koh. A selection of fifteen of Herms’ assemblage sculptures which span four decades of his work, from 1983 to 2013, partners with an installation by Koh which uses solar energy and Herms’ raw materials to create a connection between the two works and the two artists as well as with the natural world.
