NoMad Las Vegas Brings a Uniquely European Flair to The Strip

The NoMad has already made a name for itself on both coasts, with luxurious spots in Los Angeles and New York. But with the launch of its new Las Vegas location, the NoMad is bringing a new level of sophistication to The Strip. 

Located at Park MGM, the NoMad hotel features a casino and pool, as well as a restaurant and bar led by Daniel Humm and Will Guidara, who took top honors on 2017’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. As in New York and Los Angeles, the NoMad Las Vegas, created by Sydell Group in partnership with Make It Nice, was designed in collaboration with Jacques Garcia. The result is an elegant aesthetic informed by the hotel’s desert surroundings, but with a touch of glamour and playfulness because, well, this is Vegas.  

Occupying the top four floors within the newly opened Park MGM, the NoMad Las Vegas features 293 rooms and suites appointed with custom furnishings, oak hardwood floors, original artwork curated by Paris-based design studio be-poles, Bellino linens, and custom Argan bathroom products. Staying in synch with the other NoMad properties, many of the rooms feature the iconic freestanding pedestal bathtubs, leather headboards, and paravent screens, as well as steamer trunks transformed into minibars (a la the original NYC property). 

One entirely unique feature of this particular location is the first NoMad Casino, situated under the buildings historic Tiffany glass ceiling. The array of games is no joke, with roulette, blackjack, and baccarat, and a high-limit gaming floor that marries the glamour of old-school European casinos and modern amusements of The Strip, and featuring cocktails expertly crafted by bar director Leo Robitschek. Garcia created space based on the pentagonal shape of the Tiffany glass ceiling, designing an art deco homage to the 20th century building. 

As for what inspired the NoMad Restraurant’s design, look no further than Rio de Janeiro, the location of the renowned Royal Portuguese Cabinet of Reading. Garcia’s space features soaring 23-foot walls showcasing a carefully curated collection of books and a color palette blendind emerald, amber, and mahogany with recessed banquets and an imported 18th-century French antique fireplace and staircase. The menu celebrates American classics with large-format communal courses and an extensive selection of salads, pastas, and entrees.

The NoMad Bar’s deep bordeaux velvet decor has roots in the classical theaters of France. A custom-made Austrian velvet and sheer curtain by Rosebrand cloaks the Bar during the day, and patrons will see a Steinway piano staged in the corner of the room, perfectly primed for live performances. The all-day restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night, with an eclectic menu of shareable plates, snacks, sandwiches, pastas and more is available throughout the day with live jazz most evenings.

The NoMad Las Vegas also features serveral private dining areas including The Cellar, an intimate space with walls decorated with new and vintage wine bottles, decanters, glassware, and service pieces. The larger Salon features a cocktail bar, alongside emerald green tufted walls and recessed seating. And the Parlour room pays trubute to four famous female gamblers in the form of sculptural busts, along with a neoclassical frieze.

The hotel’s art program pays tribute to the NoMad’s themes of merging old and new, with a variety of vintage artworks sourced from antique stores throughout the U.S. and Europe, combined with various collections from Portraits de Villes and original photography from commissioned artists.
